We believe some of life's best moments happen outside.
Not the once-in-a-lifetime kind. The everyday kind. The ones that rarely make it into photographs. The moments that teach us which products are worth keeping around.
The jacket hanging by the back door. The hat that's seen a hundred sunrises. The pants you grab before daylight because you know they'll do the job. The gear that becomes part of your routine, not because you're trying to preserve it, but because you've learned you can depend on it.
That's the kind of product we set out to build.
The Origins
I started Mad Trapper because I've always been drawn to products that earn their place over time.
Growing up in Texas and spending summers exploring Colorado, I came to love gear that was dependable, crafted with intent, and made to last. When I realized how rare those products had become, I decided to build them myself: durable, North American-made goods designed to be worn hard, repaired when needed, and relied on for a life lived outside.
In 2025 we set up shop in Austin, Texas and the rest is history.

Keeping production closer to home allows us to know the people behind our products, maintain accountability throughout the process, and ensure every piece meets the standards we'd expect ourselves.

Why “Mad Trapper”?
Mad Trapper takes its name from the legendary Mad Trapper of Rat River, whose story embodied grit, resourcefulness, and a willingness to do things differently.
While the man became folklore, the qualities behind the name remain timeless. Independence. Self-reliance. The ability to adapt, improvise, and make the most of what you have.
Those are values we admire and build into every product we make.
